ABX Air, Inc, is a FAR Part 121 cargo airline flying express cargo routes for customers in the U.S. and around the world. ABX Air also offers a variety of airline-related training, including dispatch training, flight training, and simulator time. Formed in 1980 as Airborne Express and in 2003 ABX became a public company as part of a merger between Airborne and DHL. DHL spun off ABX and it grew rapidly to become part of the third largest air express company in the United States. A subsidiary of Airborne Express, the airline flew all the freight for Airborne while managing the process of sorting millions of pieces of freight each day. ABX Air operated and maintained the only privately owned air cargo airport in the world, developing a state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance operation. ABX Air is now owned by Air Transport Services Group formerly Airborne Express.
